Waterproofing and Damp-Proofing in Lahore Construction
Damp is the silent killer of Lahore construction. It ruins paint, weakens structure, and makes homes unlivable within a decade. Waterproofing is not an upgrade; it is part of the foundation. This guide covers where water enters, how to stop it, and what it costs.
Roof waterproofing: the first priority
Lahore's monsoon and summer heat cycles crack concrete and create pathways for water. A proper roof membrane — bituminous or polyurethane — with a reflective coating adds 10–15 years to roof life.
Basement and foundation protection
External waterproofing, drainage boards, and perimeter drains are the only reliable basement defence. Internal waterproofing paint is a temporary patch, not a solution.
Bathroom and kitchen wet areas
Waterproofing under tile is mandatory and cheap — typically under PKR 15,000 per bathroom. Skipping it guarantees tile lifting and mould within three years.
